This thing is taking a lot more time than I wanted. In the last two days I have --

Exchanged several emails with the factory about techncial details/options

Had a lawyer modify a related legal agrement

Apply to reserve an N-number (N26DX, ASH-26E and my contest number 6DX - get it?) with the FAA

Work with Williams soaring on finalizing instrument panel parts, such as circuit breakers, emergency locator beacon, varios, flight computer, etc

Order small parts from other suppliers such as a PDA mount, gooseneck and mounting parts, compasss and mount, Powerlet DC power sockets and plugs

Talk with Eastern Sailplane about paint color decisons (needed soon), trailer details, ...

Ordered flight and service manuals from Eastern Sailplane so I can do some study

Talked with several owners about motorglider training and checkouts

Confirmed with Rolf Peterson that he can do some motor glider training and sign off an endorsement for me

Talked with several current owner on panel layout options

Talked with my bank about buying Euros, and handling the financial transactions

Cue the violins... ;-)

Seriously, that is a nice glider. What is your expected delivery date?

Here before the Parowan trip! In time to get used to it and then take it along. That was a big part of buying this particular glider. Grand Canyon here I come...

Exact date is TBD, time to repaint trim paint, registration and contest numbers, airfreight instruments to the factory and have them finish a panel, and about 20-30 days shipping, etc. Spindelberger say they can have a new trailer in about 2 weeks.

I know I should not complain, but this a lot more work than say working with DG would be. DG have have much clearer options lists, information, etc. With AS you really need to deal with the factory in person and they are very helpful - but it would be better to be able to avoid lots of the need for this.

Current completion date is around March 9th. Then 20-30 days shipment to be here. The long pole in the tent is the delivery of a Cobra Trailer.

Darryl,

I have just returned from AS, you will be so happy with your new 26E. The detail planning that you are doing will really pay off! I'll try to call in the next day or so to fill you in on a few details that I saw at AS.
