ASH-26E its baaack

Thanks to the folks at Alexander-Schleicher it seems I do have an ASH-26E after all. Another glider under completion in the factory. The plain blue stripe will go — and will be replaced by the modern style multicolored swoosh. This glider has no instrument panel so I’m running to get instruments sorted out. It has a fiberglass top trailer already with it which will get swapped for an aluminium top trailer.
Worrying about configuration stuff just gives me a headache. Options on this glider look like they will be -
- Aircraft completely painted with acrylic paint
- Steerable tail wheel and removable wing tip wheels
- Winglets
- Electric fueling system, fixed installation in the aircraft
- Additional fuel bag (15 litres in the wing (left and right)
- Solar panel Set 7, fitted flush into engine bay doors
- Additional set of Solar panel Set 7, fitted flush into engine bay doors
- Tinted canopy (blue)
- Install access to spark plug without requiring engine removal (now a standard feature)
- Internal fuel vents from wing tanks to fuselage tank
- Fitting for 3 liter oxygen bottle, 108mm diameter
- Acoustic landing gear warning (connect undercarriage and spoiler to Cambridge 302 only
- Competition number applied
- Cockpit interior furnishings in leather, color: antrazith (no. 05365)
- Luggage pocket on left side of cockpit in leather to match interior leather
- Addition of second 17 Ah battery in cockpit
- Install battery charging wires to the wing root area and install Portlet connectors in wing root
- Tail dolly
- Loudspeaker with cover on left side
- Install standard USA style 1/4″ headset jacks at top rear of right side speaker box
- Install switch on instrument panel to select swanneck or headset microphone
- PTT-Button on stick
- Cruise/climb-switch on stick
- Swanneck-microphone
- Transponder-antenna ready installed and wired to instrument panel
- Jaxida covers (full set) with window for the solar panels
…plus instuments and avionics, trailer and tow out gear, shipping, insurance, …

Woohoo!
New flying toy…

Cue the violins… ;-)
Seriously, that is a nice glider. What is your expected delivery date?

Here before the Parowan trip! In time to get used to it and then take it along. That was a big part of buying this particular glider. Grand Canyon here I come…
Exact date is TBD, time to repaint trim paint, registration and contest numbers, airfreight instruments to the factory and have them finish a panel, and about 20-30 days shipping, etc. Spindelberger say they can have a new trailer in about 2 weeks.
I know I should not complain, but this a lot more work than say working with DG would be. DG have have much clearer options lists, information, etc. With AS you really need to deal with the factory in person and they are very helpful - but it would be better to be able to avoid lots of the need for this.

Current completion date is around March 9th. Then 20-30 days shipment to be here. The long pole in the tent is the delivery of a Cobra Trailer.

Darryl,
I have just returned from AS, you will be so happy with your new 26E. The detail planning that you are doing will really pay off! I’ll try to call in the next day or so to fill you in on a few details that I saw at AS.
